In 1992, John Moroz and Brian Skarstad set out to develop lower-priced violins that play like the finest handmade instruments. The Skarstad/Moroz model begins with partially-completed, unvarnished imported violins, built to our specifications. We completely graduate the top and back, fit a bassbar, set the neck, and apply the finest-quality varnish. The result is a violin that is being played in many conservatories and leading orchestras. In addition to being sold at Skarstad Violins, they are available at various shops throughout the country.
